Dr. Swope completed his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at A.T. Still University after graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Colorado with a bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He then completed a General Surgery internship at UC Davis Medical Center and David Grant Medical Center, followed by an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Missouri. To further refine his expertise, he completed a prestigious fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), focusing exclusively on primary and complex revision hip and knee replacement.

Throughout his career, Dr. Swope has cared for patients in academic medical centers, private practice, community hospitals, and Level I and II trauma centers across the country. His clinical expertise includes robotic-assisted knee replacement, direct anterior hip replacement, revision hip and knee replacement, fracture care, sports injuries, arthritis treatment, and general orthopaedic surgery.
Dr. Swope is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS), and member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). He remains committed to delivering the highest standard of orthopaedic care while staying at the forefront of advances in the field.

While Dr. Swope has extensive surgical experience, he believes that exceptional patient care extends far beyond the operating room. He has built his practice around a concierge-style philosophy that prioritizes direct access to the surgeon, unhurried appointments, thoughtful communication, and individualized treatment plans. Every patient is personally evaluated by Dr. Swope, ensuring they understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and expected outcomes before making important healthcare decisions.

Dr. Swope's Military history
Before starting Swope Joint Replacement, Dr. Swope served over 21 years in the United States Air Force as an orthopedic surgeon, including extensive experience in orthopedic trauma.

He deployed multiple times in support of operations in Afghanistan and Iraq and served in leadership roles throughout his career, including as part of a presidential emergency surgical team. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 2024. His military background instilled a deep commitment to precision, accountability, and patient-centered care that continues to define his practice today.
